IV Sedation Patients

PROGRAM HAS BEEN POSTPONED

Unfortunately this program has been postponed. If you have applied to be a participant of this program in 2026, you will be notified when the program is held again in the future. If you haven’t applied but still wish to be notified, please sign up for notifications here.

We are seeking healthy individuals who are available for a simple dental treatment June 19–26, 2026.

Cost of dental treatment is fully covered by our program, including the sedation. Treatment is administered while patient is given IV sedation. Perfect for individuals who are anxious during dental procedures.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Generally healthy
  • Required to attend a consultation screening appointment
  • In need of basic dental treatment, such as dental cleaning, a simple filling, or a simple extraction
  • Available for a treatment appointment on June 19, or between June 22-26

Please note: Patients must be generally healthy and medically appropriate candidates for IV sedation. Final eligibility will be determined by the clinical team during the consultation screening appointment.

  • IV (intravenous) sedation is a way to help you feel very relaxed and comfortable during your dental treatment. The medication is given through a small needle placed in your arm or hand.

    How will I feel?

    • You will feel calm, relaxed, sleepy, and less anxious.

    • Many patients feel like they are “dozing” during the procedure.

    • You will still be able to respond if the dentist talks to you, but you probably won’t remember much afterward.

    Is it safe?
Yes. The dentist providing treatment is specially trained to provide IV sedation and instructors will be on-site to monitor the procedures. Your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels are carefully monitored the whole time to keep you safe.

    What should I expect afterward?

    • You will feel drowsy for a few hours.

    • You’ll need someone to drive you home and stay with you for the rest of the day.

    • Most people feel back to normal by the next day.

    Who is it for?
IV sedation is helpful if you:

    • Feel very nervous or fearful about dental treatment

    • Have a strong gag reflex or difficulty getting numb

    1. Apply to join the program by filling in and submitting the online form. You can access this form by clicking the “Apply Now” button on this page.
    2. You will be contacted by staff members to discuss your eligibility for the program and to make an appointment for the consultation screening.
    3. Attend the consultation screening appointment.
    4. Staff will book a dental treatment appointment for you during the period June 19-26, 2026.
    5. Attend the dental treatment appointment. Afterwards, you will need someone to drive you home and stay with you for the rest of the day.
  • The dental treatment provided in this program is free of charge.

By participating in this program, you will be treated by dentists who are training to administer IV sedation as part of their practice. The treatment costs are covered by this program.

This program, however, does not cover other costs you may incur due to your participation in the program, such as transportation costs.
