
Course Description
This course explores the complexities of managing dental patients with systemic medical conditions in the context of hand surgery. Topics include cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, neurological, hematologic, oncologic, renal hepatic, pregnancy and immunology-related risks with emphasis on evidence based guidelines.

Upon completing this course:
- Recognize common systemic medical conditions—including cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, neurologic, hematologic, renal, hepatic, immunologic, and pregnancy-related conditions—and understand their relevance to dental treatment.
- Apply current evidence-based guidelines to safely manage local anesthetics, anticoagulants, drug interactions, and perioperative risks in medically complex dental patients.
- Demonstrate effective chairside decision-making and emergency preparedness through case-based scenarios, clinical decision grids, and quick-reference tools.
