Course Description

This is a basic review course on treatment planning and options available for the completely edentulous patients. The course will review the morphological changes as a result of complete edentulism and review factors to consider when examining and treatment planning prosthetic options for this patient population.

  • Upon completing this course:

    • To understand the pathophysiology of complete edentulism
    • To learn to examine and treatment plan for complete edentulous cases
    • To understand the mechanism of support retention and stability for complete dentures and various implant supported prosthesis
    • To identify the advantages and disadvantages of the various prosthetic options for completely edentulous patients
  • Please arrive within 30 minutes before the course start time to sign in.

Speaker

Dr. Leung received her DDS degree at the University of Toronto.  She completed a hospital residency at the Boston Medical Center and a Prosthodontics Residency at the University of Pittsburgh.  During that time, she also earned a Master of Public Health degree.  Following these programs, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. She has been in private practice since 2005.  Currently she serves as a part time Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto involved in the undergraduate prosthodontic education. She has been named an Honorary Class Member for three years and a recipient of the 2019-2020 Dr. Bruce Hord Master Teacher Award.
