Designing and Making Partial Dentures Refresher Course

February 21–23, 2025

Course Description

This 3-day hands-on course is designed for general dentists to review the concepts and steps in making removable partial dentures (RPD).  Treatment planning and design concepts will be reviewed.  Every fabrication step will be covered from lecture presentation as well as hands on session including tooth preparation, impression taking strategy, jaw relation record consideration, to framework try in and adjustment protocol during the insertion phase.  Finally, common denture complaints will be addressed including clasps adjustment, denture repair and reline.  Some completed cases will be presented and reviewed to enhance the learning experience.

A Review of Removable Partial Denture for the General Practitioner on Treatment Planning and Design Consideration” by Dr. Beatrice Leung is a prerequisite for this course. This course is taking place the morning of February 21, 2025. You can register for it at the button below.

If you’ve taken this course previously with Dr. Leung since August 12, 2022, you will be requested to send the confirmation of completion to CDE.

    • To review basic RPD design and treatment planning concepts
    • To review the basics of RPD components (major connectors, minor connectors, clasps options etc)
    • To describe procedural considerations from tooth preparation, final impressions to, metal framework try in and denture adjustment
    • To learn to troubleshoot common denture complaint/concerns
    • To review some cases on design and procedural step
  • Please arrive within 30 minutes before the course start time to sign in.

    Staff will be available at the Faculty of Dentistry’s Edward St entrance to admit participants into the building as this building is not open to the public. If you arrive too early, you may need to wait until staff arrive.

    Hands-on materials and equipment are provided for participants to use in the course.

  • Cancellations made more than 10 calendar days before the course start date will receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 10 calendar days of the course start date.

    Refunds will not be issued for registrants who do not attend, regardless of reason for absence.

    Registrations cannot be transferred to another individual.

Instructors

Dr. Leung received her DDS degree at the University of Toronto. She completed a GPR at the Boston Medical Center and a Prosthodontics Residency at the University of Pittsburgh. During that time, she also earned a MPH degree. Following these programs, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. She has been in private practice since graduation. Currently she serves as a part time Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto involved in the undergraduate prosthodontic education. She has been named an Honorary Class Member for three years and a recipient of the 2019-2020 Dr. Bruce Hord Master Teacher Award

Dr. Elhadary has worked in different universities, studied and taught in different countries. She attended and supervised different courses, lectured at international dental conferences, and published many international research papers. Under her supervisions, many of her Master and PhD students have been awarded for best presentations and organized many scientific events at different dental schools.

Since moving to Canada, she has been teaching at the University of Toronto in undergraduate prosthodontics, restorative dentistry and dental materials. Her teaching commitment has resulted in receiving multiple Honorary Class Member recognitions.

She believes in all new innovations in prosthodontics whether digital, biomaterials or tissue engineering…. But she still believes there is a place in removable prosthodontics, for which she has experience teaching for more than 25 years.
