Small Field-of-View Cone Beam CT: Principles and Applications

Instructors: Dr. Trevor Thang and Dr. Teodora Gheorghe

Jan 30–Feb 1, 2026

Course Description

This engaging and practical course offers dental clinicians a thorough introduction to small field-of-view Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging. Through a blend of didactic sessions and hands-on training, participants will explore the core principles of CBCT, including radiation physics and biology, appropriate imaging prescription, volume acquisition, interpretation, and structured reporting.

Special attention will be given to the use of CBCT software, with a focus on the interpretation and reporting of dentoalveolar CBCT (DACT) volumes. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to start integrating CBCT imaging into clinical practice.

This course fulfills the educational requirements of the RCDSO Standard of Practice – Dental CT Scanners standard for the operation of CBCT systems, making it an essential step for clinicians adopting this advanced imaging technology.
