Course Description
For most clinicians, the interpretation of caries and periodontal disease is rote; the imaging features have been seen many times over many years. However, when an abnormality, perhaps not seen since dental school days is identified, the diagnostic task can be daunting. Designing an appropriate imaging examination, understanding the link between a disease process and a specific radiologic appearance, and identifying those features that are key to an accurate diagnosis, are all steps in this process.
-
Upon completing this course:
- Learn to design an imaging examination that balances patient risk with diagnostic benefit.
- Appreciate the link between disease pathogenesis and a radiologic appearance.
- Understand why some imaging features are more specific than others, and hold the keys to diagnosis.
