The Association for Continuing Dental Education (ACDE), along with 37 of its member schools, is jointly providing a series of live webinars. This series features university-based key opinion leaders presenting numerous topics on multiple dates and times. Presentations are available to meet every dental professionalâs schedule and interests.
Course Description
This course is designed to provide an educational foundation of Autism Spectrum Disorder for healthcare practitioners and personal care providers in effort to instill confidence in clinical decision making and treatment planning as well as inspiring creativity in making clinical chairside accommodations to enable safe and effective care.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Discuss oral health risks prevalent among people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Describe systemic conditions commonly affecting people with ASD.
- List techniques and equipment that may be useful when providing clinical care to a person with ASD.
- Compare and contrast oral health aids that could assist a person with ASD.
- Communicate with ASD specialists in your area in effort to provide collaborative care.

This webinar will be held on Zoom.

Presenter
Suzanne is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Advanced Oral Sciences and Therapeutics at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
She holds a BSDH degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) and an MS degree from Old Dominion University.
Her expertise spans dental assisting, nonsurgical periodontal therapy, practice management, pharmacology, special needs, health disparities, and social justice.
She lectures for health science programs and professional organizations and practices clinical dental hygiene in Maryland and Washington DC.
