Course Synopsis

The purpose of this course is to educate the general dentist on how to minimize medical risks during dental procedures and generally within the dental setting. Risks from common medical conditions and of circumstances occurring within the dental office will be explored. Specifics will address risk assessment of patients, risk mitigation within the operatory room and of dental materials along with common pharmacological agents prescribed by both physicians and dentists. In addition, this course will introduce participants to a basic medical physical examination and expand dental skills regarding medical history taking.

Learning Objectives 

Upon completing this course:

Part 1: New Patient (Morning)

-Medical Update 
- Learn important questions to as
-Learn basic vital assessment for the dentist
-Learn basic physical exam for the dentist to identify deteriorating patient
-Medical Profile - Review relevant medical history for the general dentist
-Exposure to mitigation of patient dental anxiety

Part 1: Regular Patient 
      
-Hypertension 
-Coronary Artery Disease 
-Asthma
-COPD and Tobacco Smoking
-Diabetes 
-Endocrine Disorders

Part 2: Special Cases (Afternoon)

-The Surgical Patient on Blood Thinners 
-The Sedation Patient

There are no refunds or cancellations within 10 calendar days prior to the course start date. Cancellations can be done by following the link and instructions provided in the registration confirmation email. "No shows" will not be eligible for a refund.
