This series features university-based key opinion leaders presenting numerous topics on multiple dates and times. Clinical Applications of Dental-Dedicated MRI (ddMRI):
Dental-Dedicated MRI, although theoretically on the horizon for almost a decade, a new prototype recently unveiled has pushed the concept into exciting reality for all dental practitioners. This lecture will take the audience through the fundamentals of MR physics, the different types of magnetic strengths used for Open MR machines, higher magnetic strength MR machines, and compare them to ddMRI machines. Clinical applications of ddMRI machines will be discussed for diagnostic tasks specific to the Oral and Maxillofacial region.
Applications of CBCT for the General Dentist and Specialists: Now in its third decade in the US, CBCT has found its way into general dental practices, as well as applications for the dental specialties. Improvements in dose reduction, limited-field-of-view scans, artifact reduction, and other advances have added value to this important imaging modality. This lecture will demonstrate a variety of diagnostic and treatment planning tasks that have made CBCT the go-to tool for general dentists and dental specialists.

Presenters
Steven R. Singer, DDS, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Interim Director of the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1982 and practiced general dentistry for over 25 years while teaching Oral Radiology. Additionally, he is an International Professor at the Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences in Guntur, India. Dr. Singer has co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and 150 abstracts. He has presented at national and international meetings and delivered numerous continuing education courses. He serves on several editorial boards and as an ad hoc reviewer for multiple journals, in addition to leadership roles in professional organizations.
Dr. Singer takes pride in leading a diverse and dedicated faculty, providing support for didactic and clinical programs, research, and patient service. He enjoys classroom and clinical teaching, as well as encouraging and supporting research efforts for pre- and postdoctoral students, and providing continuing education for his colleagues.
Dr. Mel Mupparapu obtained his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a professor and Director of Radiology at Penn Dental Medicine. A diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Dr. Mupparapu published over 200 peer-reviewed articles in dental journals, completed several NIH-funded research projects, published multiple chapters in dental textbooks, and edited 5 Dental Clinics of North America volumes. A former Fulbright professor at the University of Malta, Dr. Mupparapu, taught Radiology at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine for 15 years as a clinical professor of Radiology in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences.
