Course Synopsis

Course Overview

Instruction in achieving minimal and moderate sedation in dentistry using:

  • Oral sedation
  • Nitrous oxide-oxygen sedation

Course content includes a review of:

  • Minimal Sedation
  • Moderate Sedation
  • Oral sedative pharmacology
  • Oral sedation regimens
  • Nitrous oxide pharmacology
  • Nitrous oxide equipment and administration
  • Monitoring
  • Respiratory physiology
  • RCDSO Guidelines

Each participant will get experience in the clinical application of nitrous oxide sedation.

Please Note: The course Medical Emergencies in Dental Offices by Dr. Daniel Haas is a prerequisite to this course and must have been completed within the last 2 years.

OBJECTIVES

Successful completion of this course, which includes prior reading assignments and 2 multiple-choice tests, qualifies dentists to administer minimal and moderate sedation by means of an oral sedative, nitrous oxide-oxygen, or a combination of these 2 modalities.
